Program overview
Core workshop
Foundations
The first half of the Learn Through Active Play workshop shows how to easily facilitate play opportunities by setting up spaces that invite movement, making play accessible for children of all abilities. Educators learn how to create inclusive, developmentally appropriate environments where active play habits naturally flourish. Developing active play habits is the heart of Learn Through Active Play: simple, small shifts in play behaviour that steadily build individual confidence while strengthening relationships between children, and between children and educators.
Strategies
The second half of the workshop explores how to weave movement into daily routines and relationships. Participants are shown how active play can support smooth transitions, strengthen connections with children and colleagues, and create meaningful learning moments without interrupting play. Educators learn how to sustain active play habits over time, deepening their practice and making active play a natural part of every day in the early learning environment.
Ongoing support
Following the workshop, participants are provided ongoing individualized support to address specific needs. Educators, program leaders, directors, administrators, and post secondary faculty gain access to resources and mentoring for their unique settings and requirements. The Active Play Exchange provides further learning through regular webinars and chat discussion.
Active play exchange
The Active Play Exchange is a regular one-hour online session that offers a deeper dive into LTAP topics. Each session delivers approximately 45 minutes of fresh LTAP content, followed by discussion where educators can explore concepts, share real world examples, and build community with others who embrace active play in learning.
Mentorship and coaching
Mentoring is targeted support tailored to the unique needs of a specific centre, team, or situation. LTAP team mentors might attend a staff meeting, help problem-solve a challenge, offer environment or program planning ideas, or guide next steps based on educator needs. Mentoring is flexible, responsive, and individualized support to help educators apply LTAP concepts in their early learning environments.
Certification
Educator certification
When an educator is LTAP Certified, it means they’ve completed the Learn Through Active Play 4 hour workshop and are committed to creating early learning environments where movement, curiosity, and confidence thrive. Families can feel reassured knowing their child is supported by an educator who uses an active play lens to build strong relationships, support smoother days, and create inclusive, joyful learning experiences. LTAP Certification is a mark of professional pride and a celebration of your commitment to growth, well-being, and a playful approach to learning that makes a meaningful difference every day.
Centre certification
When a centre is LTAP Certified, it means every educator is planning with an Active Play Lens. This certification is more than a badge it demonstrates a commitment to creating early learning environments where children thrive through movement, play, and joy. For families, it signals that your child is supported by educators who understand the power of active play to nurture development, build relationships, and make every day better. For educators, it’s a mark of professional pride. This is a place where your colleagues share the same vision and skills, and where your workday is enriched by the energy and confidence that active play brings. Being LTAP Certified tells the world: this centre values growth, well-being, and the kind of playful learning that lasts a lifetime.
ELCC leader certification
LTAP Certification for leaders recognizes the essential role of guiding and supporting educators in bringing the Active Play Lens into their practice. This certification reflects a deep commitment to nurturing teams, strengthening program quality, and creating environments where both children and educators thrive. Families benefit from consistent, intentional approaches to active play across the centres you support. Educators benefit from your leadership as they build confidence, develop new habits, and bring more joy and ease into their day. Being LTAP Certified as a leader celebrates your vision, your leadership, and the meaningful impact you make across early learning communities.
Facilitator certification

Facilitators play a vital role in growing active play habits across communities, empowering educators, and ensuring the LTAP vision reaches every early learning environment.
